Church United Updates on Ukraine Relief

When Russia invaded Ukraine last February, different churches and Christian charities immediately sought ways to help Kyiv. The conflict caused thousands of deaths, displaced millions of civilians, and wrecked infrastructure and livelihoods, leaving many Ukrainians homeless but not hopeless.

Most Ukrainian men and women remain to fight for their country while their families fled the violence. Heart-breaking videos of fathers saying goodbye to their loved ones went viral for the world to see.

According to BBC, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees reports 6.5 million people are displaced in Ukraine while 3.6 million have left for neighboring countries.

Charities around the world banded together to raise funds, send emergency supplies and share God’s love.

Church United, a community of local pastors and ministry leaders in South Florida, initiated an opportunity to provide support to Ukraine. Together with the National Christian Foundation of South Florida, money and other resources are being gathered for the Eastern European country.

Church United recently issued an update on its fundraising efforts. More than $250,000 has been raised through the NCFSF Disaster Relief and Crisis Fund and $225,000 has been given out.

The NCFSF team sent the grants to the following recipients: Alpha Poland, Alpha Ukraine, Awana, OneHope, Operation Mobilization, Samaritan’s Purse, and World Relief.

These organizations work with local churches in Ukraine and they provide all types of help including food, shelter, transportation, and medical assistance. They also provide emotional support to the victims of the war, mostly women and children. Volunteers are open to hearing their stories, offering warm hugs, and sharing God’s Word to help unburden and give comfort.

The conflict remains in Ukraine and there are many ways to help. People need cash to buy essential goods like food and pay rent, temporary shelter, medical care, and help for onward travel.

For those who want to send support to the crisis, you can contact your local church and join their efforts. For online donations, click here. If you are an NCF Fundholder or if your church has a fund with Church United, you can make a fund to fund transfer by following these instructions.
